Antenatal care is provided at the clinic in Hunters Corner. The midwives do not do home visits during the antenatal period. Births are usually at Middlemore Hospital. Postnatal care is provided at the home of the woman and baby. It should be noted some midwives specialise in providing postnatal care.
All midwives provide primary care. If circumstances should require the assistance or intervention of doctors, the care becomes secondary care. At that point, many midwives will transfer care to the medical team.
